3/5 Getting Rid of Animal Odors
Posted on March 5, 2010 at 11:08 AM |
This may be slightly off the subject of Beauty, but it’s still useful…
My boyfriend called me last night all worked up because his brother’s cat who has been (not-so) affectionately named “the wizzer” peed on his clean clothes. He was going to throw everything away because he claimed that smell won’t come out. This, of course, prompted me to do a little online search for home remedies to remove cat odors…. We all know how I love those home remedies!
So here’s what I found:
For clothing
- Rinse garments. Mix 1 cup vinegar with 2 cups water and add about a tablespoon of Listerine Mouthwash. Soak garments in this mixture overnight and wash regularly.
For Carpets/Furniture:
- Use a paper towel to dab up moisture. Mix 1/3 cup vinegar with 2/3 cup water and add a few drops Listerine (same mixture just less of it) pour mixture to soiled spot until saturated, allow to sit about 10-15 minutes, soak up excess liquid w/paper towel. Allow to dry. If the spot still smells, reapply mixture. Then sprinkle with baking soda, and vacuum.
For Linoleum or tile floor:
- Bleach
I hope this helps to keep your clothes and your home cat pee free!
