5/27 Shadows to Make Your Eye Color POP!

I was at Walmart this weekend buying liquid eyeliner and false eyelashes for a 1960’s Cher costume, and I came across these amazing eye shadow palettes that I just have to tell you about!
They are made by Physician’s Formula (which I love!) and they’re called “Shimmer Strips, Pop. custom eye enhancing shadow and liner” (for brown, blue, green, or hazel eyes) and they cost less than $10. I picked up the brown eye palette, mainly because it had a shimmery white shadow, which was a must have for my roommate’s go-go dancer costume, but when I saw the beautiful colors, I just HAD to have it.
This is not your every-day eye-color enhancing palette. This has 9 great colors to choose from, instead of the usual 3 you see in one of these. You can mix and match the shades to come up with great combinations, AND it includes darker shades that can be used as a contour color in the crease of your eye OR as a powdered liner, OR even better, BOTH!
I was pretty excited about one color in particular; it’s a marigold-like yellow that really jumped out at me. I knew it would be good, but I was still pleasantly surprised when I wore it. It made all the gold specs in my brown eyes really pop, and it’s SUCH a lovely color!
There’s also a gorgeous gunmetal-slate-purple in there that I absolutely love, especially as an accent with the gold. The contrast between the vivid gold and the not-quite-sure-what-color-it-is purple is really beautiful!
The brown eye palette also has the traditional purples and a cocoa brown liner that is to-die-for!
The green eye palette contains beautiful aqua, turquoise, and gold shades that are a nice break from the predictable earth tones most green-eyed girls are forced to stick to. Of course, there’s also a lovely purple to make those rare emeralds demand the attention they deserve!
The blue eye palette has the usual browns, as they are the absolute best way to make your baby blues stand out, but they are mixed in with some very pretty blues and some unusual tan/gold tones to warm up the usually cool complexions of most blue eyed beauties.
The Hazel eye palette is full of lovely peachy-purples, browns, and golds to make those gray peepers pop. I’m especially impressed with the beautiful warm tones of the hazel palette, as most people would mistakenly put cool colors on hazel eyes.
Not only are the colors stunning, but the quality of the shadow is great. They are powdered shadows, but they have a great creamy texture that allows them to glide on easily and blend beautifully! They come with a firm sponge applicator that is perfect for applying powered liner and contouring. I suggest using a small bristle brush to apply your highlight and base colors, as this will allow for seamless blending.
These eye palettes are a great way to play with color, while still ensuring that the colors you’re using work for you. I think a lot of women don’t know where to start when choosing a new look, so they get stuck in a neutral rut. This is a safe way to try something new!
